What made you choose Middlesex University?

The fact Middlesex University has a campus in both Dubai and London as this allowed me to travel between the cities without affecting my studies.

What attracted you to your course and made you apply?

A BA Hons in Business and Marketing offered a wide range of potential career options after graduation.

What aspects of your course did you enjoy most?

My final year dissertation project as it enabled me to create my own brand and product then create a marketing campaign from scratch.

What is your fondest memory of life at Middlesex?

Cooking my own meal for the first time…. What an experience!

What one piece of advice would you give to a prospective student interested in studying at Middlesex?

Make sure you choose a course you enjoy and stay on top of your reading material from day one.

How did your course and time at Middlesex help you to get where you are professionally today?

It taught me the key skills that are required in today's working environment – everything from time management to presenting and pitching to large groups.

What made you choose the industry you work in and what are its pros and cons?

I decided to work for the government as it offers a high level of job security and huge potential for promotions. The downside is that there are various strict protocols and procedures which need to be followed when working in a marketing capacity for the government which at times can present challenges.

How did you get your foot on the career ladder post university?

I started off taking on short term marketing roles which came through various temping agencies before joining a few graduate schemes. My last graduate scheme job ended with a permanent role in the government sector.

What has been your defining career break or highlight to date?

My current role as I have a lot of responsibility which keeps me challenged, motivated, and it's in a sector which interests me.

What does the future hold for you?

In the future I would love to run my own Marketing and PR company.

What are the top three career tips you would give to current students and recent graduates?

Always have a career goal and then develop a realistic plan towards achieving your main goal. As part of your plan, also set smaller goals with dates you wish to achieve them by.

During university vacations try to get as much work experience under your belt so that you have a competitive edge over other graduates when you graduate.

Life doesn't follow a set script, so be yourself, always live for the moment, don't be afraid of change and have fun.

What one piece of advice would you give to the 17/18 year old you?

Don't ever stop dreaming. Some of those dreams come true, others don't but that's ok.
