Mr Guffran Rostom

Guffran Rostom currently teaches in the International Foundation Programme (IFP) at Middlesex University Mauritius.

He is a US Fulbright Alumnus and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) with experience in community-based research around drug- & HIV-related stigma and discrimination. He was trained in global health practice and medical anthropology at the University of South Florida, Tampa, USA. He also holds a BSc in Sociology from the University of Mauritius, a postgraduate certificate in Higher Education (PGCertHE) from Middlesex University, Hendon, and a Master’s in public health, jointly delivered by the Université des Mascareignes (Mauritius) and the Université de Limoges (France).

Previously, and after many years as a volunteer, Mr. Rostom has held significant leadership roles at Prévention, Information et Lutte contre le Sida (PILS), managing training, community health, research, and national HIV response strategies, and leading advocacy efforts. He has also been involved in political advocacy and contributed to national HIV policy. Guffran is also a member of the ‘AI in Higher Education’ Working Group of the Mauritius Institute of Education (MIE), a council member of the National Social Inclusion Foundation (NSIF), and chairperson of its Research & Development Subcommittee.
