Jimmy is an academic advisor and assessor, connectingstudents with trust/hospital partners to enhance their overall experience. Hebridges the gap between the university and healthcare trusts, fosteringcollaboration and ensuring students receive the support and opportunitiesnecessary for academic success and professional growth in dynamic healthcareenvironments today.


Biography

With a diverse and dynamic career background, this professionalbrings a unique blend of healthcare expertise and a robust foundation infinance. Originally from the Philippines, he transitioned from accounting rolesin banking and insurance to a broad finance career in the UK, gaining over 15years of experience across industries such as hotels, retail, import-export,and dairy.

Seekinga better work-life balance, he made a significant career shift into nursing.After earning a DIPHE Assistant Practitioner qualification and a BSc in AdultNursing with first-class honours from Middlesex University, he gained extensiveexperience in acute hospital settings, progressing from Staff Nurse to DeputyWard Manager, Ward Manager, and Clinical Skills & Simulations Lead. InSeptember 2023, he returned to the university to impart his wealth of nursingknowledge to the next generation of nurses.

Inthe same month, Jimmy was featured on the front page of The True Northmagazine, sharing his journey from accounting to nursing, which positivelyinspired numerous people. He is also a core member of the #ThisIsMe program,which highlights the unique stories of colleagues who have positively impactedothers and contributed significantly to the trust.

Duringhis hospital employment, Jimmy was selected as a Chief Nurse Fellow (CNF) inthe NHS, where he underwent a year-long training program to develop leadershipskills and drive patient care improvements. He is also a trained ProfessionalNurse Advocate (PNA) from Worcester University, providing essential support tocolleagues during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, he offersrestorative clinical supervision (RCS) to colleagues and is expanding thissupport to other trusts, promoting well-being and enhancing clinical practiceacross multiple settings.

Jimmy,an alumnus of the Florence Nightingale Foundation—Mary Seacole LeadershipProgramme, is dedicated to addressing health inequalities and improvinghealthcare outcomes. Through this prestigious initiative, he advocates forchange, develops leadership skills, and ensures diverse communities receiveequitable care. Jimmy actively supports the Florence Nightingale Foundation'smission to advance healthcare equity by applying his knowledge in teaching,making a lasting impact on the next generation of nurses. He empowers them todrive meaningful change in healthcare while prioritising patient safety andfostering a culture of excellence in care.

Jimmy remains actively involved in the clinicalsetting while fulfilling his role as a lecturer at Middlesex University. He isdeeply committed to imparting his knowledge and expertise to the nextgeneration of nurses and takes great pride in sharing his experience withMiddlesex University students.
