Biography

Meghan Luton is a dedicated midwife and a Senior Lecturer in Midwifery at Middlesex University, where she also serves as the Programme Leader for Midwifery. With a rich background in clinical practice, she brings a wealth of hands-on experience to her academic role.

Currently, Meghan is pursuing a PhD, focusing her research on the maternity experiences of mothers who use British Sign Language (BSL). Her commitment to this area of study was recognized with the prestigious Iolanthe/Royal College of Midwives Jean Davies Award for her work in addressing health inequalities within the deaf community.

Meghan's passion for improving maternity services for all is evident in her numerous publications. Her research often explores the communication barriers faced by deaf women and their families during pregnancy and childbirth, advocating for greater awareness and accessibility in midwifery care.
