We've been involved in teacher training since the 1950s. In that time, our Education Department has established their reputation for high-quality teaching and learning. We now have 100% graduate employment on our education courses (DLHE, 2017).
We work with over 500 schools, colleges and settings in most London boroughs, Hertfordshire, Essex, Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire. Many of these partnerships are connected to our Initial Teacher Training provision and others work with us in training teachers on the School Direct scheme.
Ofsted has rated our teacher training as ‘good’ for our Early Years, Primary and Secondary courses. Our students are happy with their time at Middlesex too. We're second in London for student satisfaction in our Initial Teacher Training courses (National Student Survey (NSS), 2014).
We've established best practice for work-integrated learning in education through experience and innovation. Our trainee and their workplace mentor co-construct the curriculum with features including:
We developed the curriculum for our Initial Teacher Training in partnership with schools and employers. When you work with us, you'll be part of an ongoing partnership to make our integration of learning, teaching and assessment possible.
We'll collaborate to make sure that school-based university-lead elements of the programme complement each other and we'll jointly assess trainees’ performance in the workplace. We encourage your school to be part of curriculum development days, mentoring conferences and our Partnership steering group.
