RSIAD Overview

RSIAD builds on around four decades of experience in creative education within the Rhein-Sieg Akademie. Its wider educational environment offers a range of pathways in art and design, from secondary and vocational education to advanced professional qualifications and postgraduate study. This longstanding experience provides the foundation for RSIAD's international higher education activities.

At postgraduate level, RSIAD works in partnership with Middlesex University London to deliver master's courses in illustration and graphic and communication design. The courses combine academic study with a strong emphasis on creative practice, experimentation, critical reflection and professional development.

Teaching at RSIAD is characterised by small learning groups, individual guidance and close interaction with experienced practitioners from the creative industries. Students are encouraged to develop their own artistic and professional profile, explore contemporary approaches to visual communication and connect their creative practice with current developments in art and design.

Through its partnership with Middlesex University, RSIAD combines its established tradition of practice-based creative education in Germany with the academic standards and international perspective of a UK university, providing students with the opportunity to gain an internationally recognised postgraduate qualification while studying within a highly personal and creative learning environment.

Partnership description

This is a programme developed, delivered and assessed by Rhein-Sieg Institute of Arts and Design, awarded and quality assured by Middlesex University. Students receive a Middlesex University award upon successful completion.
