Explore our scholarships, bursaries and alumni awards
We don’t want financial concerns to hold you back from university – we have a range of scholarships, awards and bursaries to help support your studies. Unlike loans, you don't need to pay them back.
We award them for different reasons based on your personal circumstances and achievements. You can use the money to reduce your tuition fees or to assist with expenses.
- You can apply for more than one scholarship
- You can only receive one scholarship at one time so if you have been awarded more than one, you will automatically be awarded the one of highest value
- The decision of the Scholarships Committee about awards is final.
Depending on your family's income, you might also be entitled to more support from the government through loans and grants. See our information on undergraduate finance and postgraduate finance.

Living Costs Fund
The Living Costs Fund, which is available throughout the academic year, is designed to provide a safety net to help you to continue to study. The fund provides support for small, unexpected costs, as you adjust to potentially higher living costs whilst studying. The fund is open to all enrolled students, or those retaking modules. Money or food vouchers don’t need to be repaid, and you can apply more than once.

Additional support available
We want to do everything we can to make uni affordable so that you can make the most of your time as a student and focus on your studies. Laptops are accessible for students via our laptop loan scheme. We also support with free academic printing and access to specialist software.
Research studentships
Research Studentships are funded posts linked to a specific research project that support postgraduate researchers (PhD candidates) while they complete their research degrees. As part of our ongoing investment in research, we offer a number of funded studentships throughout the year. Please visit our research studentships page to find out more.
Please note you need to apply for your course in parallel with your studentship application. You should also ensure you mention the studentship you are interested in when you submit your application.
International students
If you excel in your studies or show promise in your chosen field, you may be eligible for financial support. This includes our Regional and International Merit Awards, which reward students with up to £2,000 towards course fees for all taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
Our European Academic Awards offer scholarships to excellent applicants from the EU/EEA.
For more information about what's available to students from your country, please visit our dedicated scholarships and bursaries page for international students. This includes details on how to contact your nearest of our international offices.
