London Sport Institute
The London Sport Institute (LSI) builds on our successful and innovative undergraduate programmes. It offers opportunities for students to lead active, healthy lives while studying at Middlesex.
The Institute also conducts high-quality research and offers a growing range of postgraduate programmes and opportunities for MPhil and PhD study. Its academic activities cover sport, exercise, and health.
Our teaching
Our students gain a strong foundation in sport and exercise science before applying their knowledge to professionally focused courses. Areas of study include:
- sports rehabilitation
- sports performance
- coaching
- teaching sport.
The Institute develops partnerships with organisations such as Watford FC Community Trust. These partnerships create volunteering and placement opportunities in schools and local sports organisations, including the Connie Henry Track Academy.
We also support initiatives that promote sport and physical activity across the region. Students develop their practical skills in our laboratories and clinic within a supportive and engaging environment.
We work with employers to keep our courses relevant and ensure that graduates develop the knowledge and skills required by the sector.
Our programmes cover sport and exercise at every level, from community participation to elite performance. Graduates work for leading clubs, teams, and organisations, including:
- the English Institute of Sport
- England Rugby
- Swansea City FC
- British Canoe Slalom

Graduates also pursue careers within the growing field of public health.
