Research activities

Dr. Bishop is an active researcher with a particular interest in performance profiling for athlete populations and the efficacy of training and testing in Golf, where he currently resides on the Medical & Scientific Advisory Committee for The R&A, DP World Tour, and Ladies European Tour, in addition to being a Research Lead for Sports Academy LLC on behalf of the PGA of America.

  • Dr. Bishop is also supervising a range of PhD students, researching performance profiling and athlete performance across a range of sports.

  • Biography

    Chris is the current Interim Head of Department and an Associate Professor of Strength andConditioning, at the London Sport Institute. Chris completed both his MSc and PhD in Strength and Conditioning atMiddlesex University in 2011-2012 and 2016-2020, respectively. From an academicstandpoint, Chris has authored/co-authored 275+ peer-reviewed journal articles, 2 textbooks, 3 book chapters, and is currently co-editing another 2 textbooks. Chris also serves as the Editor-in-Chief for the Professional Strength and Conditioning Journal - the official journal of the UK Strength and Conditioning Association (UKSCA), a Senior Editor for the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research, and an Associate Editor for the Strength and Conditioning Journal. Chris is also leadingon multiple research projects in Golf and is part of the Scientific and MedicalAdvisory Team for the R&A (who jointly govern the sport of Golf), DP World Tour and Ladies European Tour, in addition to recently being appointed as Research Lead for Sports Academy, PGA Frisco. From a practical standpoint, and prior to starting atMiddlesex, Chris worked in professional football and the private sector wherehe headed up the performance side of the business for a large healthcarecompany. Chris is an accredited strength and conditioning coach with the UKSCA and was previously Chair of theBoard for the UKSCA, which represents the leading professional body forstrength and conditioning in the UK.
