Biography
Mahensingh Deonaran, a Legal Psychologistand Adult Psychotherapist, holds dual professional designations as a CharteredPsychologist and Chartered Scientist and is an Associate Fellow of the BritishPsychological Society. He brings over 25 years of clinical experience, havingworked extensively within the UK Ministry of Justice and the National HealthService across a range of criminal justice and healthcare settings in London.
Since 1999, his professional practice hasencompassed work within the Courts, Regional Secure Units for mentallydisordered offenders, and several of His Majesty’s Prisons — includingWandsworth, Pentonville, and Holloway — where he served as a Forensic Psychotherapist.
With extensive experience in treating awide spectrum of psychological conditions, Mahensingh currently maintains aprivate psychotherapy practice adopting pluralistic approaches while alsoserving as Head of the Counselling and Wellbeing Service at MiddlesexUniversity Mauritius. In this role, he leads initiatives that promotepsychological wellbeing and counselling support across campus.
His clinical and research interests lie atthe intersection of legal psychology, forensic science, psychopathology anddecision science, with a particular focus on judicial decision-making and theadmissibility and credibility of forensic expert evidence within the CriminalJustice System of England and Wales.
