Mariette Jones joined Middlesex University in August 2008 as a senior lecturer in law, after having headed the Department of Practical Business Law at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa.
Mariette holds the following qualifications from the University of Johannesburg (formerly the Rand Afrikaans University): BA (Law); BA Honours (Political Studies) (cum laude); and the LLB. She holds a Certificate in Legal Practice obtained from the University of Cape Town in 1999 as well as an LLM in International Economic Law from the University of South Africa. In May 2020 she obtained a PhD from Middlesex University.
Mariette qualified and was enrolled as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa in Cape Town in January 2000.

Mariette is module leader for Tort and UK Company Law on the LLB programme, and for Corporate Governance on the LLM.
She'd authored a textbook on the law of tort, which was published by Pearson in April 2014, and acted as consultant editor for the 12th editon of Elliott and Quinn's Tort Law, published in May 2019 by Pearson
Mariette's research interests include corporate governance and corporate responsbility, civil liability and tort, as well as comparative law. She'd co-supervised a PhD student to completion in the area of World Trade Law, and welcomes Doctoral students in the following areas:
