The D&AD New Blood Festival is a fantastic opportunity for MDX students. This showcase for emerging creative talent puts students and their work directly in front of industry professionals.

It not only helps them discover work opportunities but also gives them the chance to build their confidence by talking about themselves as emerging creatives.

The festival gives students the opportunity to be among practising creatives and hear the conversations that are happening in the creative space. Portfolio reviews, guest talks and conversations on the stand help them feel the transition from education into creative industries.

The breadth of talent across MDX Studios is on display throughout the show. Work from Graphic Design, Fashion Communication and Styling, Illustration, Digital Media Production and Advertising, PR and Branding all comes together in one space.

This cross-disciplinary approach reflects our contemporary creative practice, where collaboration across disciplines is increasingly valued. Industry is seeking students who are multi-faceted, adaptable and able to produce great ideas. These are all qualities our students demonstrate in abundance.

Making connections

As tutors, we get to see all the skills and attributes the students have developed over their time at MDX come to life at New Blood. The confidence they gain through presenting, pitching and discussing their work is invaluable, enabling them to engage naturally with industry professionals.

We also see their ability to communicate their amazing ideas and creative identity, helping them to craft opportunities for future employment.

The real-world focus of our curriculum is evident throughout the work on display. Students present projects developed through D&AD competition briefs alongside live industry collaborations with external agencies such as NOT Wieden+Kennedy and JDO.

These experiences challenge our students to work directly with real clients and real agencies, allowing them to pitch and present their ideas in professional contexts, preparing them for the realities of creative practice before they graduate.

Our students are more than just pixel-pushers. They generate new, exciting ideas and engage with both traditional and emerging technologies to bring those ideas to life.

This is why they, and their work, stand out at D&AD New Blood. They craft new paths and buck trends.
