Haseeb - Clearing stories

Haseeb - an Economics student who applied through Clearing

When I returned home from College after picking up my results I decided to apply through Clearing. I looked through some of my options, and I saw Middlesex's website again, and remembered how nice the campus was and how much i liked the vibe.

I called the Clearing hotline feeling anxious and really nervous but the advisors were really calm and reassuring , walking me step by step through the options, discussing the course and the grades that i needed to study. Once Middlesex gave me the offer, I just went on the UCAS website and accepted it, with no issues.

One of the biggest things I was looking for was a university that really supported their students. Looking online and seeing the stories about Middlesex, the opportunities and career paths, it really resonated  with me how much support that they had been given. So, that’s one of the reasons I ended up choosing Middlesex.

One thing that really turned out to be good at Middlesex is the amount of global opportunities that they had available; they have campuses in Dubai and Mauritius. And I was also able to do a summer school in Korea for a month, which really changed my perspective on a lot of things.

I realised I really made the right decision when I actually walked through the campus. It was just really scenic, it didn't feel like it was in London and it was really cosy. And I was like, you know what? I really made the right decision.

Haseeb’s top Clearing tips

You know that you have so many choices to make in such a little amount of time. But it will be okay in the end, regardless of where you go.

  • Look at the student support and how the university can help you
  • Look at the opportunities and partnerships; I didn't initially know about Middlesex campuses in Dubai and Mauritius.
  • Read about what other students have done. For example, I'll be starting my placement at Middlesex Cricket County, as a business support administrator, next year.

Hello, my name is Haseeb.

And I'm studying economics here at Middlesex University. So on results day, I went into my college and I picked up my results.

I then went back home and I looked through some of my Clearing options, and I saw Middlesex's website again, and I had remembered how nice the campus was and the vibe.

And I ended up giving them a call and yeah, here I am.

So I remember this quite prominently in my head. When I phoned Middlesex, you know, I was really nervous. I was anxious because I didn't really know where I would be going.

Speaking to the person on the Clearing hotline, I remember them being really calm and really reassuring, you know, walking me step by step on what I would be studying, my course and the grades that I needed to study. So I found the process to be relatively smooth.

You know, once I had got the confirmation on the phone that Middlesex had given me the offer, I just went on the UCAS website and accepted it, so I didn't have any issues.

I think one of the biggest things I was looking for was, you know was a university that really supported their students. And you know looking online and seeing the stories about Middlesex about their opportunities and their career paths, it really resonated with my how much support that they had been given. So, that’s one of the reasons I ended up choosing Middlesex.

When I realised, like, wow, I really made the right decision. It was when I actually walked through the campus fully and it was just really scenic and nice, and it was like it didn't feel like it was in London and it was just cosy. And I was like, you know what? I made the right decision.

So I think one thing that really turned out to be good at Middlesex is the amount of global opportunities that they had available for offer.

You know, having a campus in Dubai and Mauritius isn't something I knew of initially.

And through Middlesex, I was also able to summer school in Korea for a month, which really changed my perspective on a lot of things.

So the biggest piece of advice I would give to someone going through Clearing would be, it's a lot, you know, you'll be nervous, you're going to be anxious.

You know that you have so many choices to make in such a little amount of time. But it will be okay in the end. You know, regardless of where you go.

So next year I'll be starting my placement at Middlesex Cricket County, where I would be a business support administrator.

I'm really excited to learn or put what I have learnt in real world settings and environments, so I'm really excited for that.
