Professor of Sociology Louise Ryan has been conferred as a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences.
The award was given in recognition of her "pioneering research in the field of migration, in particular post-accession migration patterns in the EU".
Fellows are drawn from right across the spectrum of academia, practitioners and policymakers, and are chosen after a peer review process for the excellence and impact of their work in the social sciences.
The Academy of Social Sciences is the national academy of academics, learned societies and practitioners in the social sciences, and its mission is to promote social science in the UK for the public benefit.
Commenting on receiving the prestigious honour, Professor Ryan, who co-directs the Social Policy Research Centre based at Middlesex University, said: "I am very honoured by this award.
"It is recognition not just for my research and publications but also for the work I have done with colleagues here at Middlesex University over the last decade or more. I certainly could not have achieved this without all the support I have received from my colleagues."
