Instagram competition reveals diversity of London student life

#MDXinLDN celebrates the experiences of Middlesex University students in the capital

An Instagram competition launched last month has revealed a wealth of diverse experiences that Middlesex University students enjoy in London.

In all more than 80 entries to #MDXinLDN were received from current Middlesex students with BSc Psychology with Human Resource Management student Giorgia Bellocchio, BA English Language and Media student Kvetoslava Drabikova and BSc Computer Forensics student Holly Ainsworth each winning a pair of tickets to the Tower of London Ice Rink.

Giorgia won with her colourful “#bestbirthdayever” post from Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, Kvetoslava for her triptych from a Czechoslovakian restaurant in West Hampstead and Holly for capturing a spectacular sunset over the London Eye and Big Ben.

Other entries featured the Christmas lights of Oxford and Carnaby streets, icons such as St Paul’s and Nelson’s Column, and less well-known landmarks including the Shri Sanatan Hindu Mandir in Wembley.

Students in London benefit from access to more than 100 cinemas, 7,000 bars and pubs, 5,000 restaurants, 350 live music venues and 100 parks, according to Study London.
