Middlesex University high-flyer is set for success with an exciting graduate position

Michal Kuchmacz recently graduated with a first class degree in International Tourism Management and has already landed a digital research internship at the International Airlines Group (IAG).

On graduation day, Michal reminisced about his time at Middlesex, particularly the start of his journey in 2014.

“I still remember my feelings when I was moving to a new country to start a completely new journey of my life,” he said.

“I was leaving my family, friends and everything else in Poland. The decision was risky, but it paid off and it was the best decision of my life.”

In his second year, Michal worked on a highly acclaimed research project with the RAF Museum, where he developed a particular interest in aviation.

Working as a part-time tennis coach while studying, Michal was also nominated to become a tennis captain and tennis coach at Middlesex University, with his team taking fourth place in the BUCS league as well as winning the University European Tennis Tournament in Lille.

“From my academic achievements, the biggest one would be the fact that while managing three different jobs - or even four - I managed to achieve a first class grade from all of the final year modules.

“The biggest challenge was probably the dissertation.

“The main topic of my dissertation was public participation in the Heathrow expansion decision-making process.

“My dissertation and other research assignments helped me develop extensive research skills such as business case study analysis, quantitative analysis using SPSS or qualitative data analysis and interview transcription.”

Michal is now getting stuck into his internship with IAG.

“The internship is going very well and my main activities involve researching new technologies that can be used in the aviation sector. I really enjoy it and I am learning a lot of new information and skills needed in this sector.

“I am currently very positive about the future and very proud of my current achievements.”
