Middlesex students to take part in a new online learning experience to support professional development and employability skills
Middlesex University is delighted that 20 of its students and graduates have been selected to take part in Santander Universities Black Inclusion programme – a new online learning experience for up to 3,000 university students and recent graduates from a Black and Black Mixed Ethnicity background across the UK. In partnership with leading finance industry specialists, Finance Unlocked, participants will benefit from access to professional development, gaining employability skills which will help build their CV. The course focuses on developing applicants’ financial skills by focusing on the fundamentals of finance and covers topical subjects including Green Finance and Blockchain.
On being selected for the programme, Middlesex graduate Josna Samuel commented: “I have always believed that education doesn’t stop after graduation. For a business management and marketing graduate, opportunities that will allow me to gain further insight into the various aspects of business such as finance, are hard to come by without having to go straight back into doing another degree. Ahead lies a host of invaluable knowledge and experience that I’ll be able to apply to all aspects of work, business and life in general.”
After completing the eight-hour online programme and quizzes, 30 of the top-performing students and graduates will also be in with a chance of receiving a £1,500 Santander Scholarship.
Current Finance student, Anisa Mohamed Abdulqadir, added: “I believe the programme will give the opportunity to expand and enhance my knowledge in areas of Finance that are not covered in my degree while also looking at real-life cases and current impacts in Finance. The programme will also keep us informed of any employment opportunities which would be very beneficial.”
The Santander Universities Black Inclusion programme is part of Santander UK’s Black inclusion Plan launched last year as part of the bank’s overall commitment to being a genuinely inclusive and diverse organisation. The plan focuses on three key areas: Leadership, Allyship and Networks, which all shape the bank’s ongoing activity in creating a culture that champions everyday inclusion. The new Santander Universities Black Inclusion programme supports Allyship and the drive for positive change.
The Finance Unlocked course is now open for students to complete until the 9 May 2021.
The 30 successful applicants that will receive a £1,500 Santander Scholarship will be announced on 17 May 2021.
