Networking event hosted by the Tax and Accounting Clinic will look at how the Budget can impact finances

Middlesex University tax and accounting experts are holding a special event for business owners, self-employed workers and professionals across Barnet and North London to explain how the Budget could affect their finances.

Organised by Middlesex University’s Tax and Accounting Clinic, the Open House Evening: Budget 2026 and Beyond will be held between 5pm and 8pm on Tuesday 3 November on its Hendon campus in North London and people can also join the event online.

North London business owners, company directors, self-employed professionals, accountants, advisers and anyone interested in understanding the Budget and connecting with the local business community is invited to attend.

The UK Autumn Budget was delivered by Chancellor John Healey on Wednesday, 28 October and marks the first Budget under new Prime Minister Andy Burnham.

The networking and insight event at Middlesex will look at how the Budget could impact business finance.

There will also be a talk from Francis Opoku, Business Support Manager, Grow London Local, who supports small businesses and entrepreneurs in Barnet and Harrow, helping them identify their needs and access relevant advice, training and resources.

Dr Jeremy Chapman, a wealth manager, author, and co-founder of The Integrity Centre, who has almost four decades of experience in financial services, will be holding a recorded talk and provide an alternative perspective on the Budget. His work focuses on how values shape decisions in business, society, and personal conduct.

Dr Chapman also has a Doctor of Professional Studies by Public Works at Middlesex University in March 2024 and is the author of True North: The Compass Inside, which supports young people as they navigate values and peer pressure.

Speaking about the event Shan Wang, a Senior Lecturer and Director of the Middlesex Tax and Accounting Clinic, said: “This promises to be a very informative and interesting event for local business owners and professionals to help them respond to the impact of the Budget. We are very keen for people from the local business community in Barnet and North London to attend.

“Jeremy and Francis have a wealth of experience and expertise in business and I’m sure their insights into the Budget will be very engaging.”
