Why Middlesex? video thumbnail

hi everyone my name is malek and i'm in my third year studying mechatronics engineering at middlesex university.

i'm darren lewis and i graduated from the bsc product design engineering course back in and i'll be telling you how middlesex is
helping me prepare for my future i'm going to tell you a bit about how mdx got me into the career that i wanted as a design manager working for dyson in
their new concepts team.

Middlesex helps me focus on my career ambitions by providing me with the opportunity of attending several outreach events such as new scientist
life and world skills where i can meet new people and expand my network.

i didn't know what sort of career i wanted to get into when i started at middlesex but during the course i got to do many different things including robotics which was quite a big surprise
but that's how i discovered my passion for electromechanical product design.

Studying the mechatronics engineering course at middlesex has really helped me develop my transferable skills such as my
technical time management, teamwork, as well as interpersonal skills which are all used tackling any task in the real world.

Today in design engineering subjects our students work entirely on practice-led provision importantly all our programs are
professionally accredited there are also many opportunities to take part in high-profile competitions.

Here at mdx works we offer one-to-one support to help you to achieve current and future career goals and we'll provide opportunities to network
and gain experience with our employer partner.

Thankfully my lecturers at middlesex go over and beyond to help me secure the job that i want in the industry from
helping me fix up my cv to applying to the jobs that they think are best fit for me.

In my current role i get to create completely new products that have never been done before anywhere using new technologies that
solve a genuine consumer need. I find it really exciting some of my best moments in middlesex got me traveling to different countries around
the world competing in competitions and presenting conference papers as well as building lots of crazy robotic contraptions.

Hear from students

"A great aspect of this course was the practical approach to learning. I really enjoyed the process of transforming a concept into an actual object"
