Research activities

My research interests connect clinical nursing practice, evidence-informed decision-making and nursing education. My current doctoral research focuses on generative artificial intelligence in nursing education, particularly its ethical use and the evaluation of learning outcomes.

My research and scholarly activities encompass:

Generative artificial intelligence and technology-enhanced learning in nursing education.Clinical reasoning, critical thinking, digital simulation and online learning.Evidence synthesis, critical appraisal and evidence-informed clinical decision-making.Perioperative nursing and vascular access, including peripherally inserted central catheters and implanted ports.Blended learning and educational support for internationally recruited theatre nurses.

My research contributions include publications on vascular access and collaborative work on evidence appraisal in clinical practice. I also undertake consultant peer review and research ethics review, including peer reviewing for the Journal of PeriAnesthesia Nursing.

My teaching spans undergraduate adult nursing, nursing associate education and postgraduate professional development. During the 2026–27 academic year, I contribute to modules NIP2802, NIP2805, NIP3802, NIP3805 and NIP2901.

I deliver clinical skills teaching and simulation-based learning for first- and second-year BSc nursing students, supporting the application of scientific knowledge, clinical reasoning and critical thinking to practice. I also contribute to student support and practice learning at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital.

My postgraduate work includes MSc student supervision and teaching on the ethical and responsible use of generative artificial intelligence in academic and professional contexts.

I contribute to perioperative continuing professional development and am the module leader for Principles of Perioperative Practice, offered at Level 6 (NSA3555) and Level 7 (NSA4510). My wider academic responsibilities include accreditation activities.
