Research activities

I have carried out Action research for my MA and an evaluation of a public health learning resource. 


Current Teaching

I am currently Year 3 Programme lead for BSC Nursing (Child)  and MDX Practice lead for Health Visiting (HV) and School Nursing (SN)  placements.  In relation to this I am currently facilitating a working group with colleagues in practice regarding updating learning resources for students in  HV and SN placements.  I am also an  Academic Advisor  for a cohort of students

I currently teach on and module lead for the following modules:

CYP 1802: Foundations of  Scientific Principles for CYP Learning

CYP 1803:  Foundations of CYP Nursing Knowledge 

I also facilitate V100/V150 nurse prescribing updates for prescribers in Health Visiting and School Nursing teams  

 


Biography

I am currently a Senior Lecturer in Primary Care/Child Health.  I hold the following NMC registered nursing qualifications:  Registered Nurse -Adult; Registered Specialist Community Public Health Nurse; Teacher; Community Practitioner Nurse Prescriber.  My academic qualifications are:  BA Health Studies; PGDip Community Health Care Nursing; PGDip in Promoting the Health of Young Children; PG Cert HE; MA in Work Based Learning Studies (Education for child mental health).

Prior to coming to Middlesex University in January 2005 , my roles included: Staff nurse on a dermatology ward Queens Medical Centre Nottingham, Advisory Officer for the Stroke Association.  I have  also had  Health Visiting roles in the following trusts: South West London Community Trust, Broxtowe and Hucknall Primary Care Trust and Crawley Primary Care Trust .

I have a particular interest in public health, particularly the promotion of mental health in the infant, child and young person
