Research activities
Prof Azar's work particularly examines how managers perceive and respond to institutional, cultural, and technological environments, and how these perceptions influence internationalisation, innovation, organisational performance, and strategic decision-making. He also has growing research interests in digital transformation, technology adoption, sustainability, and organisational change.
He has published extensively in internationally recognised journals, including International Business Review, Management International Review, Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Business Research, and International Marketing Review. His research has received international recognition, with his work on innovation and export performance being widely cited within the fields of international business and strategic management.
Alongside his research activity, he is actively engaged in academic leadership, doctoral supervision, and interdisciplinary collaboration. His current research projects explore themes including institutional distance, managerial cognition, blockchain technology adoption, digitalisation and internationalisation, and organisational technology readiness.
He serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of International Business Review and the Editorial Boards of Management International Review and the European Journal of International Management. He is also an active member of the European International Business Academy (EIBA).
