Joelle Grogan is the Module Leader for EU Law courses, including the LLB Modules European Union Law and Advanced Issues in EU Law and Politics; the BA EU Internal Market Law, and the LLM EU Law in Action. She additionally has taught on the LLB Criminal law and Equality law courses.
Joelle created and runs StickyTrickyLaw, an online education project on Facebook and Twitter, making complex concepts in law (particularly in the context of Brexit) accessible to a wide audience through humorous, hand-drawn sticky notes accompanied by simplified explanations.
With Lughaidh Kerin, Joelle piloted Bridge the Gap at Middlesex University in Autumn 2017. Bridge the Gap is a transformative programme designed to bridge the skills gap between secondary level and University. Students develop a range of hard and soft skills critical to addressing the difficulties they experience.
Joelle based the design of BTG on her experiences while working for access to education schemes, and as a graduate tutor and admissions interviewer at Oxford University. The course advances critical-thinking and creative problem-solving skills, as well as addressing issues relating to stress-management, conflict resolution, and self-confidence. The course prepares students to work independently and with their peers for a successful three years at University and beyond. This scheme continued in September 2018.
