Michael is the Director of Programmes for Mental Health in the School of Health and Education. Previously he worked at King's College London as a Programme Lead for the PGDip in Mental Health and as a lecturer.
Prior to entering academia, Michael worked in a number of care settings providing mental health care to those with acute mental health issues. He has a particular interest in the provision of psychological therapies and is a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist.
Michael holds an Honorary Psychotherapy contract with the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, seeing clients with mild to moderate mental health issues. He also sees students at the University's Wellbeing Centre for psychological therapy.

Michael has a particular interest in the mental health and wellbeing of health and social care staff and students, with an emphasis on the use of mindfulness based techniques.
