Anna is currently Pro Vice-Chancellor for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. This is a cross-cutting academic leadership and development role that strengthens the connections with, and the voices of, staff and students. The role involves overseeing accreditations and action plans in the EDI area including, but not limited to, Athena Swan, Race Equality Charter, Stonewall, and work in relation to other groups identified in Equalities legislation and more broadly. Beyond the formal accreditation processes, the role supports the University on its culture development and change journey, especially in the area of inclusivity working closely with the EDI Team, MDXSU, Chief Officer for People and Culture, and the Vice-Chancellor.
Anna is a London born Cypriot and has over 40 years of experience in academia, starting as an hourly paid lecturer and research assistant. She has served her time as a Lecturer (4 years), Senior Lecturer (4 years), Principal Lecturer (12 years), Head of Department (5 years), Dean of the Middlesex University Business School (10 years) and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Professional and Social Sciences (Executive diversity lead, 4 years).
She has worked with the strategic development of organisations and their management teams throughout her career. Her areas of specialism are organisational behaviour, leading and managing people, learning and development with a particular emphasis on managing and developing people in virtual organisations. She has extensive research experience in survey design and data analysis at organisational, national and international levels.
She has been instrumental in developing several major CPD and in-company initiatives with a range of public, private and third sector organisations. She has chaired innumerable panels at home and abroad, and has represented the University in numerous countries around the world.
Anna is a Companion of the Chartered Management Institute and a Companion of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. She has served as the elected Vice President for the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development’s (CIPD) Membership and Professional Development Committee and sat on the CIPD Board til December 2018.
