Highly active in areas at the forefront of economics, from applied microeconomics and networks to banking, trade and applied industrial organisations, our academics use their research to inform both the knowledge they deliver and the innovative teaching methods they use. With a belief in offering students a stimulating experience, as well as high levels of engagement, we placed in the top four among London institutions in a number of learning criteria in the most recent National Student Survey.
As one of the most progressive and vibrant economics departments in the UK, we draw together a body of international researchers who have gained their doctorates from top institutions in the field, including Arizona, Indiana and Pompeu Fabra. This pool of academic talent has led our Behavioural and Experimental Economics Group to be ranked in the top three in London and eighth nationally by RePEc (Research Papers in Economics).
As well as holding weekly seminars and workshops in economics presented by leading researchers, we invite industry professionals to deliver stimulating talks for students, academics, alumni and professionals alike.
The department also hosts the Sustainable Development Research Cluster.
