The Centre for Academic Practice (CAPE) is devoted to the development of excellent academic practice, working collaboratively within Middlesex University and across the HE sector to promote the highest standards of education for students and educators. Our work plays a vital role in the University's on-going development as a vibrant academic community contributing to its reputation for quality learning, teaching and research.
We achieve this vision through strategy and policy development; overseeing student retention progression and achievement; and evolving academic practice through comprehensive staff development activities (e.g. Annual Learning and Teaching Conference and Academic Excellence Exchange). We also reward and recognise success through the Middlesex UK Professional Standards Framework, accredited through the Higher Education Academy. We recognise the importance of learning technologies in advancing academic practice and encourage its use to support learning, teaching and assessment.
We disseminate our work and learnings internally and externally through conferences, publications and shared resources, providing vital information for potential students, staff and collaborators to implement in their research and teaching to ensure better practice.
