Centre for Academic Practice Enhancement

The Centre for Academic Practice (CAPE) is devoted to the development of excellent academic practice, working collaboratively within Middlesex University and across the higher education sector to promote the highest standards of education for students and educators. Our work plays a vital role in the University's on-going development as a vibrant academic community contributing to its reputation for quality learning, teaching and research.

We achieve this vision through strategy and policy development; supporting student retention, progression and achievement, supporting and developing inclusive curriculum design an delivery; and evolving academic practice through comprehensive staff development activities (e.g. Annual Learning and Teaching Conference, Teaching and Learning showcases, Masterclasses, Toolkits, podcasts and blogs). We also reward and recognise success through the Middlesex UK Professional Standards Framework, accredited through Advance HE and support colleagues and teams in national recognition through the National Teaching Fellowship and Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence. We promote the importance of learning technologies in advancing academic practice providing a high quality learning environment for our students.

We disseminate our work and learnings internally and externally through conferences, publications and shared resources, providing vital information for potential students, staff and collaborators to implement in their research and teaching to ensure better practice.
