Middlesex NSS 2026 scores increase across the board, building on recent success
8 July 2026
The University ranked 6th out of 28 London universities for student positivity
Middlesex performed strongly in this year’s National Student Survey (NSS), with results linked to teaching and learning rising again to reflect our best-ever scores in 2024 and 2025.
The scores matched or exceeded the Office for Students (OfS) benchmark across every one of the seven NSS themes, with the results demonstrating Middlesex students are more positive about their experience than the London and UK average. Our ranking of 6th out of 28 London universities also highlights the hard work of academics, staff and Middlesex University Students’ Union (MDXSU) to provide an excellent undergraduate experience for our students.
Middlesex had a response rate of 79% for the survey, which was above the UK average of 73%.
Commenting on the results Middlesex Pro-Vice Chancellor, Ellen Buck, said:
"These strong results are a real testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff and students. We are very pleased to have improved our scores for the delivery of our teaching and learning again - after our best-ever results in 2024 and 2025. These results represent the views of students across our community.
"This achievement is particularly meaningful because it comes directly from our students themselves, and builds on our recent successes in the Whatuni Student Choice Awards 2026 and Uni Compare Rankings 2027. These are not just numbers – they tell us that our students think our teaching and support are excellent quality and that we are helping them to develop the skills they need for their futures.
"We will build on this momentum as we grow Middlesex's reputation for excellent education, both here in north London and as a global University."
Also responding to the news, MDXSU Education Officer, Temi Osinubi, said:
"These results show the impact of genuine partnership between students, the Students' Union and University. The improvements we’ve seen reflect the work of students and staff coming together to make real change.
"None of this would be possible without our Student Voice Leaders, Group Leaders, and Student Executive Officers who have worked alongside staff on the things that matter to students, and it shows: students shaping their own experience and making meaningful change, not just receiving it.
"We’re proud of the progress we’ve made together and while we celebrate this success, we remain committed to working with students and staff to make the Middlesex experience even better."
