Ingrid Pears has been working with hot glass since 1994. In 1998, she graduated from Middlesex University with a BA honours degree in Three Dimensional Design in which she had specialised in glass. Later that year, she won a scholarship from the Worshipful Company of Glass Sellers which enabled her to undertake postgraduate studies in Glass Techniques and Technology at the International Glass Centre in the West Midlands. Then, in 1999, she won The Frederick Stuart Memorial Award for the Best Blown Piece of Glass 2000 and in 2001 was named Best Newcomer by The Craftsman Magazine.

Since graduating from Middlesex University, Ingrid has worked with some of the world’s most notable people including His Holiness the Dalai Lama and His Majesty King Charles III. She works on a commission basis for The Foreign & Commonwealth Office, making special bespoke pieces for ceremonies, awards, and art, and has even been commissioned to make the Bollywood awards in India. In 2010, she won an International Business Award for her contribution to trade with India. In the 2012 New Year’s Honours List, Ingrid was awarded an MBE by Her Majesty the Queen for her services to Export Business.

Today, Ingrid sells her work to more than fifty places all over the world but retains her own studios in Nottinghamshire. They comprise an old former coach house in Thoresby Courtyard at Thoresby Hall and a local former Medieval Church in Hockerton, which she is currently renovating for future business use. Get a real insight into her creative world as for the first time in the Distinguished Lecture History, Professor Tim Evans will be on location and joining Ingrid live from her studios for what promises to be a fantastic conversation.
