Top performance artist joins Middlesex students in groundbreaking collaboration

30/05/2015
Internationally renowned performance artist Janice Perry is joining up-and-coming theatre makers at Middlesex University - for a series of innovative theatrical performances.

The first More Storm scratch night launches on Monday 2nd June at Ravensfield House, Middlesex University's centre for innovation in the theatre arts.

Perry will perform an excerpt from her work-in-progress Naked At The Met, an epic tale of a literal and figurative fall from grace via gender, sexuality, an ageing body, uncivil behaviour and a 30-foot cliff.

She will be joined by an exciting line-up of current Middlesex students and recent graduates - including cross-disciplinary, collaborative theatre company Thrust.

More Storm aims to provide a 'creative playground' for pioneering artists and curious audiences - encouraging risk, invention and originality without the pressure of showcasing a finished product.

Bruce Adams, Artistic Director of Thrust and Middlesex Graduate Teaching Assistant (Theatre Arts) explained the thinking behind the project:

"The space to take risks and to find a personality, all while staying visible to the industry
and audiences, is a rare and precious thing for emerging artists.

"That's why Thrust is thrilled that More Storm has found a home at Middlesex University. Cross-disciplinary work is in our DNA, and that's completely down to our ongoing relationship with Theatre Arts at Middlesex University, where our ensemble trained and forged its identity.

"We are addicted to exciting, risky, surprising and ambitious theatre. We can't wait to share that passion with the artists and companies who are coming to play at More Storm, and with the audiences who have the curiosity to come and discover something special."

More Storm launches on Monday 2 June at 7pm, in the Ravensfield Theatre at
Middlesex University, Hendon.

All tickets are available on a 'pay what you can' basis and are available from Thrust's website.
