Times Higher Education’s World University Rankings place Middlesex University among the top 200 most outward-looking universities
Middlesex University
has been named among the world's most international universities in the Times
Higher Education World University Rankings 2015-2016.
The annual study
placed the London institution 109 in the world and 43 in the UK for 'global outlook'.
"An
institution's global outlook is one of the key markers of a prestigious
university," said Phil Baty from Times Higher Education.
"It is great news for
all the institutions in the list of the most international universities in the
world. It is a sign of great potential, competitiveness and dynamism."
To compile its World
University Rankings, Times Higher Education scores universities around the
globe on a number of key indicators, with the top 800 making it on to the
overall list.
The 'international
outlook' indicator, which was used to create a list of the top 200 most
international universities, assesses universities for the proportion of international staff and students as well as the
proportion of research papers published with at least one co-author from
another country.
Professor
Judith Lamie, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, International at Middlesex University,
said: "The University's ranking reflects the global nature and ethos of Middlesex
University.
"With institutions on three continents – and students hailing
from more than 140 countries – we offer outstanding teaching, learning and
research that know no geographical or academic borders.
"We are proud to be
recognised as a university with a big global network of students and staff and
an international outlook informs everything we do, allowing us to make a
far-reaching and enduring contribution to the world around us."
